Welcome

Welcome

Having attended school in five different countries before the age of 13, then attending university as an international student and living internationally, Emily understands what it is like to be an international student. Learning a new language, settling into a new country, environment, and culture, on top of academic requirements can be both rewarding and challenging.

Emily and the International Department work closely with students, teachers, family and whānau to provide excellent wrap-around pastoral care to all international students. Building relationships and connections while studying internationally is important, and our International Department helps welcome and connect students with their host families, peers, and teachers.

Whether your goal is to study for a single term to experience Aotearoa New Zealand culture, studying for one year or longer, excelling academically, or continuing on to tertiary studies, Henderson High School and the International Department look forward to supporting you on your journey.

Henderson High School welcomes applications from students aged 13-19 years old. We are a coeducational New Zealand Secondary School that teaches Years 9-13.

Henderson High School has an online application process.

We recommend submitting your application at least 4 months in advance of your preferred start date to allow for the application, enrolment and visa application processes.

English Language Proficiency Options

We welcome students from all over the world with differing levels of English language proficiency. ESOL classes are provided international students when needed. Senior students are prepared for the English Literacy Standards required for entry into New Zealand universities.

Academic Programme

The school is committed to providing high-quality education in a supportive and encouraging environment. Students are encouraged to achieve their potential and strive for success.

The junior programme, Years 9 and 10, is a broad-based approach preparing students for more specialised senior courses.

The senior programme, Years 11 to 13, offers a wide range of national curriculum subjects for the New Zealand National Certificate of Educational Achievement (NCEA).

The subjects taken at Henderson High School can lead to careers that offer life-long opportunities. An NCEA is a well recognised qualification that can lead to acceptance to tertiary institutions in New Zealand and around the world.

We will empower students with the knowledge to succeed and change their world for the better
