We are very proud of our Homestay Accommodation service. Every homestay family has been inspected, police vetted (as required by the New Zealand Government) and offers the best possible care for our International Students.
Our chosen New Zealand families open their homes to have you as part of their family, and Henderson High School works with them to ensure every student is happy. The school is committed to guaranteeing every student a safe home and school environment.
How we manage the Homestay Programme
We work with an excellent Homecare Services Company, who looks after the student right from the first letter of enquiry to organising the airport pick-up. The services company finds a suitable homestay, takes special care on the first few days at school, and helps to open a bank account among other things for the students.
Because we have been hosting International Students for many years, our homestays are very much a part of the school community. Homestay families are provided with:
- A year planner which guides them on school programmes and events
- 24 hour contact access to the school's International Student administrator
We visit, interview and screen every homestay.
We prefer to place new students with families that are experienced in providing homestays. Sometimes this is not possible as a new homestay may be a better placement for various reason, e.g. no pets. The homestay coordinator keeps close contact with the student and homestay.
