Sport, Music and the Arts

Our co-curricular programmes give all our students an opportunity to participate in activities that build their self-confidence.

Stage Challenge

More than a quarter of the entire student body gets involved in Stage Challenge as dancers, costumiers, choreographers, theming, production, lighting and set designers.

Henderson High School has a tradition of performing at the highest levels in Stage Challenge.

Each year students also represent our school with pride at Polyfest, the Auckland Secondary Schools cultural festival.

In Music, there are options for classical and modern instrumentalists, while our Choir grows from strength to strength. The highlight of the year is taking part in the Big Sing competition.

Public Speaking

Debating and Public Speaking are well supported with professional guidance, and opportunity to sit Speech New Zealand exams.

The Sports programme is led by a Director of Sport and makes use of the excellent facilities we enjoy on-campus, including an artificial hockey turf, and astroturf tennis courts.  There are opportunities available at varying levels for boys and girls in the following sports.

  • Rugby League
  • Basketball
  • Netball
  • Volleyball
  • Hockey
  • Football
  • Badminton
