Welcome to Henderson High School
“We will empower students with the knowledge to succeed and change their world for the better”. That is the Henderson High School vision, it is our focus. Our vision conveys that knowledge is the key for our young people. The key to succeeding at school and for building their future. A knowledge base to draw on to help understand their world and succeed in their chosen field. Our teachers are focused on teaching knowledge and ensuring depth of understanding and academic excellence.
We have routines that support students to learn best. This means optimal conditions for learning; in classrooms, on the fields, in the labs. Our teaching philosophy, is research and science based. This means, we teach students so knowledge is understood and remembered.
Our classroom routines are linked to our values: Te Tūāpapa o Panuku - the foundation of Henderson High School. A school where whanaungatanga (connection) manaakitanga (respect), kaitiakitanga (guardianship) and kotahitanga (being unique and united) are taught and celebrated.
Henderson High School is diverse and that is wonderful. We are focussed on being a kura where Te Ao Māori is visible and celebrated. Other cultures are woven into the fabric of our kura. Our co-curricular and extra-curricular opportunities reflect our diverse community: Robotics, Rocket Club, Rainbow Group, Kapa Haka, Samoan Group, Epro8, Games Club, Lego Club, football, badminton, Filipino Group, Drone Club, Showquest, school production, Baristas, International Ambassadors, peer mentors, prefects, orienteering, are a small sample of what is offered.
