Our senior Te Reo Māori students have learned about the amazing journey Kupe took from Hawaiki to Aotearoa at Manea, then on to Tāne Mahuta to see the 2500-year-old kauri tree in the Waipoua forest. Both places had the best tour guides, who showed manaakitanga and knew a huge amount of mātauranga.
Day two of Haerenga consisted of a walk to the stunning Arai te Uru, Hokianga Heads and a visit to the mighty Tāne Mahuta! Whaea Rere shared some pūrākau and pointed out some of the maunga in Te Whare Tapu o Ngāpuhi. Our Te Reo Māori and Te Ao Haka students finished the day at the Ngāwhā hotsprings. Tūmeke!
