STEM brings an interdisciplinary approach to four specific curriculum areas – Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics. Our Stem programme is going full steam ahead with Year 9 and Year 10 Alpha students into their second study – an engineering project focussed on bridge building. Students need to bring their knowledge from all STEM areas to succeed. For this project they are drawing on trigonometry, forces and balance, construction techniques, as well as design flair to make the bridge as aesthetically pleasing. Project development includes inception research and goes right through to mini bridge construction.
STEM teacher Mr Tahat says “Students are embracing the challenge and we are seeing some outstanding outcomes. Well done to our engineers and architects of the future!”
