Leadership
Student Leadership
There are many opportunities for students to develop personally through service and leadership, including through the House System.
Our leadership model is rooted in our values: Te Tūāpapa o Panuku: Whanaungatanga, Manakitanga, Kaitiakitanga, and Kotahitanga. Students are taught to lead with integrity, responsibility, and service to their community.
Leadership development is formalised across several of our key programmes:
- Te Hiringa Academic Enrichment Programme: Designed to foster intrinsic ambition and guide high-potential students toward NZQA Scholarships and competitive university entrance, Te Hiringa explicitly integrates leadership training alongside academic acceleration
- Te Rito o Te Reo Māori: This specialised class is committed to pursuing academic excellence and developing strong leadership skills through the medium of Te Reo me ōna tikanga (Māori language and customs), ensuring students are grounded in their Māori identity (tuakiri).
- Whether leading a Robotics team, a student council initiative, an academic peer group, a prefect or Head Student, Henderson High School students leave us empowered with the knowledge and confidence to positively change their world.
2026 Head Students
Te Tūāpapa o Panuku, our school values, are the foundation of Henderson High School. These core principles guide our students from their very first day, and throughout their journey with us.
