We were honoured to welcome legendary Aotearoa poet Apirana Taylor (Te Whānau-ā-Apanui, Ngāti Porou and Ngāti Ruanui) back to HHS. Apirana performed to the entire junior cohort in our school hall, keeping them spellbound with poetry, songs and stories. He also held a writers’ workshop for a group of studentsin the library. Apirana is an inspiring, authentic and forceful presence, and we look forward to a return visit in 2027!
