Frequently Asked Questions
Application closing dates are: There are
none. We are open to enrolments throughout the year. TopYour form level will depend on a number of things. These include your:
- level of ability in English
- your age
- results from previous study in your own country
- choice of subjects you wish to take
Our school year begins and ends at a different time from yours. All this makes it difficult for us to judge exactly which year you should be at until you have been here for a few weeks and we can see how you actually perform.
For this reason please understand that the year level we put on your "Offer of place" is a PROVISIONAL one only. If we find the work is too hard for you, or too easy, we will change your year level accordingly.
TopA. The subjects you should take depend on what course you wish to do at a University or Institute of Technology. You will need mathematics for many courses and many others require sciences.
If you are entering the school at Year 12 or Year 13 you will find that there are many subjects that you cannot do unless you have studied them previously. These include languages, physics, and chemistry. There are other subjects that you may take for the first time, but you may find it very difficult.

TopHenderson High School is a smaller, caring school. As part of our philosophy, we offer closer personal affection to the needs of each student to ensure each overseas student has a positive experience. This caring starts from ensuring someone meets the student when he/she arrives, to making sure they're happy in their home host situation.
TopLiving costs vary. However as a guide, each international student should allow about NZ$120 - $150 per week for living expenses.
TopThe school has been involved with the placement of students for a number of years, so has the experience required to ensure successful home hosting placement. We're happy to answer queries or send information on options, as required. All International students are required to be in a homestay approved and arranged by the school. See the homestay section for more information.
