Determination and Consistency Pay Off at Surfing Nationals

Congratulations to Year 13 student Tane Wallis for taking out the Under 18 title at the 2012 Hyundai National Surfing Championships, held at his local surf beach, Piha, during January.  Tane was challenged in the final by fellow surfers from Raglan, Whangamata, and Piha. Under the trying low-tide conditions, Tane took control of the final, posting two great rides, and held off the other contestants to take out the National Under 18 title.

 

Past Pupil Tastes Success at National Surfing Champs

Student Selected for First Foundation Scholarship

Special congratulations to Year 12 student Serena Simmonds who is one of 39 students nationwide to be awarded a First Foundation Scholarship. The scholarship is a unique partnership between a Scholar, their Scholarship Partner, Mentor and Partnering School, and First Foundation itself.
This partnership begins at secondary school, with the scholarships awarded at the end of Year 12 ensuring Scholars get the support they require in their crucial final year at school to gain the qualifications needed for acceptance into tertiary study. Read more >>

YWCA Future Leaders

Congratulations to all of our Henderson High School YWCA Future Leaders. The formal graduation ceremony was held on Wednesday 7 December 2011.  Our students were invited to join in the celebrations with Year 13 students from other secondary schools in Auckland coming to the end of their 5 year Mentoring programme. 270 people attended the event including student mentees and their mentors along with Future Leaders patron Dame Cath Tizard. Special congratulations to Samantha Prendergast and Analeise Simmonds who were recognised for their contribution to the Young Leaders Programme.  Read More >>

 

National Basketball title for Henderson High School student

Congratulations to Year 10 student Maria Milani who was part of the Waitakere West Auckland Under 15 Girls Basketball team that won the 2011 Under 15 National Basketball Championship held in Nelson from 17-21 October. In addition to this success, Maria was also selected for the Tournament Team and as MVP for the tournament, a great honour and reward for her skills and commitment this year.

Henderson High School student surfs his way to win at Polar Bear Classic- Northern Advocate 8 August 2011

Tane Wallis surfed his way to 1st place in the Under 18's Division at the 30th event of the annual 'Polar Bear Surfing Classic' held at Sandy Bay, (Northland).
Tane also placed 2nd in the Open Men's Division.
