Principal's Welcome

Dear Parents

It is a real pleasure, and it is exciting, to take on the role of Principal of Henderson High School and become part of the wider school community.

An early focus is to ensure a high standard of behaviour and personal appearance from all students as I believe a renewed pride across the school will help build improved academic performance. I am determined to support all students to aim higher in their academic achievements, encouraging them to set goals of merit and excellence in their NCEA courses.

I am impressed with the choice of subjects that Henderson has to offer.  This enables students of all abilities to work hard and achieve at the highest level. That is my expectation.

I believe very much in co-educational, multi-cultural schools. I have held two previous principal positions at schools similar to Henderson, building a reputation as a firm but fair-minded leader. My focus is on building an excellent teaching team to provide focused, vibrant education that captures the imagination of teenagers.

Traditional values are important and I will be working hard to enforce these across all aspects of school life.

It is great to be back in New Zealand, refreshed and invigorated, and with a resolve to help Henderson High School face the changes and challenges of the future. Henderson might be at the heart of Waitakere but it is the young students of the school who are the heart of the future.

I make no apology for my dogged determination to set rigorous standards of appearance and behaviour, and overall expectations of high performance. I invite parents to contact me or visit the school to discuss issues and ideas with me and I look forward to future development at Henderson High School.
